John Scofield Combo 66
John Scofield (gt) Vincente Archer (cb) Gerald Clayton (pn, organ) Bill Stewart (dms)
After forty years of recordings and a rich discography, the American guitarist remains a major voice in jazz and is proposing a new musical project for his 66th birthday !
"Combo 66" is the new album inspired by John Scofield that he will present in Liege as a quartet. With on the drums, the faithful Bill Stewart (with him since 1992), double bassist Vincente Archer (seen in the Robert Glasper trio) and keyboardist Gerald Clayton (son of bassist John Clayton). His always inventive and refined music will make us travel with happiness from the hot groove to the jazz-rock, through a country air and a melodic ballad. Looking forward to seeing in particular the live version of "King of Belgium", a swing song composed in homage to our great Toots Thielemans. A beautiful opening evening in prospect!
