Born in 1989 in Miami to a Haitian father and a French mother, Cecile McLorin Salvant studied piano and singing and then continued her studies in Paris. A first album with the French saxophonist Jean-François Bonnel draws attention to this young singer like no other.
The distinctions follow, then the tours linked to the first official record, Woman Child (2012). Cécile worked for many years with the trio of pianist Aaron Diehl. At the end of 2013, she was invited for the first time by Wynton Marsalis to sing with the Lincoln Center Orchestra. It is the consecration. 2014, first concert at the Mithra Jazz in Liège.
Since then, in Europe and the United States, the entire jazz scene has recognized her talent and the originality with which she has metamorphosed standards and French songs. For this concert, Cecile will be accompanied by the superb pianist Sullivan Fortner, long- time partner of the late Roy Hargrove.
The emotion of Billie Holiday, the swing of Ella Fitzgerald, the timbre of Sarah Vaughan, the originality of Anita O'Day, the sweet gravity of Carmen mcRae, the audacity of Betty Carter, the modernity of Jeanne Lee. Cecile McLorin Salvant is the greatest jazz singer of the 21st century. Point.
