In “Nout”, we can hear the name of the sky goddess who, in Egyptian mythology, absorbs the sun each evening before delivering it the following morning. But we can also hear “we”, the first person plural, or when the individual is (re)found in the collective. The missing link between Nirvana and Sun Ra, the Delphine Joussein-Rafaëlle Rinaudo-Blanche Lafuente alliance pushes their instruments to the limit, with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist in front of his flasks. Flute, harp, drums: a rare blend that the trio turns upside down. Following in the footsteps of John Zorn's experiments on the frontiers of jazz and noise, Nout imagines its pieces as veritable scenarios with twists and turns: you think you're in Alien and find yourself in Indiana Jones; you start out with your eyes closed on red seats and end up pogoing on the dancefloor.
