NUEVA TIMBA, the new album by Cuban pianist Harold López-Nussa, weaves a subtle connection between contemporary jazz and Cuban musical traditions. Surrounded by talented musicians, he revisits classics while exploring modern sonic textures. Deeply personal, the record evokes exile, loss, and the melancholy of Cuba, but also the light rediscovered after turmoil. Based in Toulouse since 2021, Harold has been building a new life there, shaped by hardship as well as resilience. NUEVA TIMBA is also a tribute to his family, and especially to his mother, a piano teacher and a foundational figure in his artistic journey. Through this work, he reconciles memory and renewal, pain and solace.
