Brandon Woody’s Upendo

Born in Baltimore, trumpeter and composer Brandon Woody draws on jazz, gospel and improvisation to create warm, expressive music. Hailed by The New York Times and Los Angeles Times as a rising force in contemporary jazz, he remains deeply connected to his hometown, its creativity and its community spirit.

Signed to the legendary Blue Note label, he released “For The Love Of It All” in May 2025, a debut album recorded with his band Upendo: Troy Long on keyboards, Quincy Phillips on drums and Michael Saunders on bass. Together, they explore love, resilience and human connection, moving between gentle melodies and bursts of virtuosity.

Having collaborated with Terri Lyne Carrington, BADBADNOTGOOD and Solange, Brandon Woody makes music a space for connection and sharing. He will perform with Upendo at La Cité Miroir on Sunday 30 May!
