Chassol
French pianist, composer and filmmaker Christophe Chassol has developed a distinctive way of bringing music and images into dialogue. His “Ultrascores”, which combine albums, films and live performances, weave together voices and sounds recorded during his travels. From “Nola Chérie” to “Big Sun”, via “Indiamore” and “Ludi”, he takes us from New Orleans to Japan, through India and Martinique.
Having collaborated with Frank Ocean, Solange, Phoenix and Sébastien Tellier, Chassol also composes for film and television and hosts “Ground Control” on Arte.
He is currently presenting “Funny How?”, a new film and album exploring American stand-up comedy. Drawing on encounters with comedians in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, he transforms their voices, intonations and rhythms into an orchestral work.
At La Cité Miroir on Thursday 27 May.
