Ola Tunji
Led by saxophonist Ornella Noulet, OLA TUNJI is a Brussels-based quartet drawing inspiration from the spiritual jazz of John and Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Albert Ayler. Their name pays tribute to John Coltrane’s final live recording, made at Babatunde Olatunji’s cultural centre: the record that brought the band together.
OLA TUNJI’s music takes shape collectively, through composing and experimenting together in rehearsal. On stage, it takes on an intense, sometimes trance-like quality, with improvisation becoming a space for freedom and connection.
Following an acclaimed debut EP in 2024, the quartet presents “TRUST”, their first album on W.E.R.F. Records. Moving between power, calm and joy, it explores trust, resilience and connection with others. Discover this Brussels jazz quartet at La Cité Miroir on Thursday 27 May!
