Elli de Mon - One woman blues band

One woman blues band

Elli de Mon is a resonator guitar, drums, bells, a voice, and a saturated sound: a true one-woman band. Strongly influenced by the primordial blues tradition (Bessie Smith, Fred McDowell, Son House) as well as the early sounds of garage punk, Elli shapes her sound into a lysergic journey through her soul.

Her seven albums have been acclaimed by critics and audiences, allowing her to play hundreds of shows across Europe. In 2020, she made her debut as a writer with a book about blueswomen of the 1920s, followed by two more works.

In 2023, she released her new album, "Pagan Blues", signed with Area Pirata Records.

"Pagan Blues"

Pagan, because it seeks to embrace multiplicity, questions, insecurity, and darkness.

Pagan, because it was born as a provocation against those schools of thought that try to confine the blues into a devotional, museum-like object. Those who always claim to speak of real blues, of truth.

Elli does not have the truth. And she hopes she never will, because it takes her to distant, sometimes uncomfortable places.

"Pagan Blues" was born out of this discomfort.
